This is a concise explanation of the key rules. For new players or for a more detailed overview of the rules see the How To Play page. For detailed information on specific Roles, Mechanisms and Interactions there are dedicated pages for those.

  • Players are split into good (Village) and evil (Werewolves) teams by being dealt a secret role.
  • Good players are trying to kill all evil players. Evil players are trying to reach Parity.
  • Players are in the game as long as they are alive. When someone dies they leave the game, either through execution or another player(s) killing them.
  • Game is played over a number of rounds called "days" - each of which has two phases: day and night.
  • Day phase is open discussion with the ability to nominate players to go on trial. Players are allowed to lie, claim or say anything they like as long as it meets the Meta rules.
  • Each player has one nomination per day. Nominations are only successful if they are seconded by another player. Seconds are not limited.
  • Each player can be nominated twice per day
  • During a trial only the nominator, second and accused can talk
  • After accusations and defences are heard, a vote is taken with the majority of players not on trial required to put a player on the block for execution.
  • Multiple trials can take place during a day, with the player whose trial has the most votes being the person on the block for execution
  • If two or more players are tied on votes at the end of the day, nobody is executed.
  • Night phase is played in silence with eyes closed. The Moderator runs the night phase and wakes people up individually to perform their roles
  • The game ends when one team reaches their win condition.
